Turin.
Wine
The all Italian wine list has been carefully chosen to show the great diversity of styles and varieties which make Italian wines so interesting.
We offer the best quality wines in each category both in terms of price
and character.
We, of course, specialise in the wines of Piedmont with over 10 Barolos
and Barbarescos offered.
Tuscany is strongly present and most areas of Italy are also
represented.
A
wide choice of Italian 'after dinner drinks' are available from Vin
Santo, Barolo Chinato, Limoncello and we especially feature Grappa of
which we always have a large selection on offer.
Grappa is
made with the must of grapes after the wine making process has
finished. Most areas in Norther Italy make grappa with the
best
known being Trentino, Veneto and Piedmont.
Grappe bianche are
in their natural state as they leave the still, although they may be
aged. Grappe gialle after distilling they spend some time in
wooden casks which gives them their amber colour and smoothes them out
somewhat.
Another variable is the grape variety from which
the grappe is distilled with each grape giving the grappa its own
inidividual characteristics. Much depends also on the
distillers
themselves.
Many famous wine producers make their own grappa from the must of their excellent wines. They are premium products and justifiably highly regarded. There are also specialist grappa producers, the best of which have turned grappa into an increasingly popular and internationally appreciated after dinner spirit.
